ACADEMIC BOOKS
All our books are taken through this process by our specialists, our in-house project managers. Your project manager will be in regular contact, sending you information on the production process. The detailed schedule of the production process include:
The prepress stages are:
Review: A product coordinator will work with you from submission to publication. They will provide feedback in preparation of the academic content review. You may be asked to do revision of your academic work as per requirementYour academic work will be reviewed by our internal editor as per our publication policies.
Cover Design and Book Title: Our designers will start working on the cover design before your scheduled publication date. Your project manager will contact you to invite your input. If an image is to be used, we require high-resolution images, licensed for commercial use (as opposed to editorial use), with model releases where appropriate. We would thus prefer that images suggested to us are sourced through reputable agencies such as Corbis, Getty Images or Shutterstock. If you are considering a title change for your book, please discuss this with your project manager as early as possible.
Editing: Your project manager will copy-edit, proofread and typeset the work as per your requirement.
Revision: Any minor changes can be rectified at this stage as per author's requirement
Final file creation (including, among others, a press-ready file)

At BallPen Publications, we empower authors by providing them with the tools and support needed to bring their stories to life and share them with the world.
BallPen's book and chapter publication policies and procedures make sure that we adhere to global norms for ethical research publications that promote knowledge.
It takes science and research to validate, modify, or expand our understanding. You are in charge of the planning and execution of your research if you are publishing with BallPen. It is crucial, therefore, that the material you submit complies with worldwide guidelines for the publication of responsible research.
As a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), BallPen is dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the scientific record and complies with its standards for handling possible misconduct and revising publications.
Prospective writers should abide by the authorship principles and good authorship practices outlined in these policies and guidelines.
Only people who made significant contributions to the scholarly work—such as authoring and/or critically revising the work's intellectual content or considerable portions of it—should be able to claim authorship.
The term "honorary authorship" is not accepted. In the acknowledgment section, third parties that contributed significantly to the work but are not considered writers should be acknowledged.
Author Identification
When submitting a manuscript for consideration, authors are highly encouraged to utilise their ORCID iD or obtain one through the submission procedure.
Policy for Corresponding Authors
The co-author who is designated as the corresponding author on the manuscript guarantees that all relevant co-authors are included and have approved the final version of the chapter, section, entry, or whole manuscript (if applicable) and have consented to its submission for publication. As a result, all co-authors bear joint accountability and responsibility for the outcomes. Please be aware that there is a copyright issue involved in the identifying of authors in addition to a research ethical one.
When submitting the manuscript, please make sure that the author names are in the correct order and include all author names (including the names of the book editors in the event of contributions to an edited work).
Policy of Affiliation
The institution where the author completed the majority of their work should be their principal affiliation. Addresses will not be modified or updated following the work's publication.
Policy on Confidentiality
Unless express permission to share material has been obtained, authors should treat all interaction with BallPen as confidential. This includes correspondence with direct personnel assigned to the work, such as managing editors, series editors, and reviewers' reports.
Policy on Authorship Concerns or Disputes
If there is a disagreement over authorship during the peer review process or following acceptance and publishing, BallPen might not be able to look into it or make a determination. It will be up to the authors to settle the disagreement. In the event that they are unable, BallPen retains the right to remove the article from consideration for publication or, in the event that content has already been published, to bring up the matter with the author(s)' institution(s) and follow its policies.
We strongly recommend that all code (e.g., computer programming code, software programmes, macros, etc.) used to produce results or substantiate claims for primary research presented in the book/chapter be made publicly available at the time of publication. Authors are urged to provide their supporting code to publicly accessible repositories.
BallPen publishes reliable research, fosters the growth of fresh concepts, and supports open science as ways to promote discovery. Our objective is to also enable adherence to data sharing regulations set forth by research funders and institutions.
We acknowledge that there are situations in which sharing research data publicly is not feasible, such as when research participants' privacy may be jeopardised or when data owners have not given their consent.
One essential component in creating and approving scholarly papers of the highest calibre is (peer) review. It is acknowledged that readership varies depending on the type of book (edited volumes, reference works, textbooks, professional books, conference proceedings, etc.), and that the method used to evaluate the quality of the work should be in line with accepted practices in the field as well as the expectations of the intended audience.
Every book that BallPen publishes gets reviewed. Expert reviews are typically required for this; these can be internal subject matter experts or impartial outside reviewers. Submissions of proposals and manuscripts to BallPen are evaluated and reviewed by an internal editor who determines if the material is appropriate for publication after determining if it should be sent to relevant editorial boards, book series editors, and/or external peer reviewers for additional review.
The reports from the reviewers will be considered when deciding whether to accept a submission.
